Date night. || Theo & Rich.

teddywasabear:

“Rich?” The man was hardly ever at the counter, usually lost somewhere among the shelves and stacks. He turns to go for Rich’s favorite corner and- no, there he is, actually at the counter. With a nervous smile, Teddy approaches Rich, hands in his pockets to keep himself from fidgeting.

He’d been quietly panicking since the second he received the text. This could be for a number of reasons, ranging anywhere from good to horrible. Rich seemed just as nervous, he realized, and it only served to put Teddy on edge even more.

Rich smiled at him and straightened up. “Teddy.” He walked around the counter, wringing his hands together to stand in front of him. He was positively screaming with nervousness inside, but he was determined to come off completely confident and in control.

“It’s good to see you,” he said grinning.

Snuggly Cafe Poetry || Teddy & Rich

teddywasabear:

“O-oh, ah…” He looks around at the empty cafe before back to Rich. “Sure.” Theo shifts a bit, settling himself into the chair, holding his own cup between both hands.

Rich smirked a bit, flipping the book open. Teddy seemed nervous, sitting further away from him than necessary. He let him be, though for now.

“You know what I love about Raegan Butcher? He’s very real. He wrote these poems from prison.” Rich glanced up at him through his eyelashes before reading.

“i am surrounded
by men who live
in cages

and blink in the sun
like psychotic moles

connoisseurs of hatred
disguised as racial pride

the tattooed husbands
of battered wives

who think love
is a clenched fist”

He finished reading and looked up at Teddy. Rich hardly noticed that he’d moved himself closer to Teddy while he was reading. Their knees were touching now.

Rich & Becca

msrebeccamoriarty:

She nods, turning her attention to the nearest book shelf as he worked. Her fingers ran across a few of the spines of the books. It was a different type of persona. One she’d never run into before from Jim. She let out an audible sigh at the thought.

Rich looked up when he heard the release of breath. He walked around the counter and stood a bit behind her. He reached over her shoulder, his chest bumping her. He pulled down a book with a worn out spine.

“Do you like poetry?”

msrebeccamoriarty:

“Oh. You can’t? That’s just a shame.” Her tone came out more sarcastic than she intended. Rebecca folded her arms over her chest and raised her bow at the offer. She was utterly lost as to what he was up to at this point.

“Yeah, all right. I suppose it couldn’t hurt.”

He faltered a bit at her tone, but straightened up and walked over to the register. “I just need to close up the cash register, okay? Gimme a mo’.”

Rebecca sighed in defeat. She decided to play along for now until Jim was done with his new character and she could talk him into going back home. Though, she still shook his hand hesitantly, resisting every urge she had to roll her eyes in the moment.

“Yes. I was looking for my brother.”

“Well I don’t know how much I can help you there,” he said, dropping her hand. Something was obviously going through her mind, but he didn’t press it.

“I’m going to be closing up soon, though. Perhaps we could go for a pint?”

msrebeccamoriarty:

She blinked. Could she have been mixed up? No, no way in hell she couldn’t pick Jim out of a crowd if she had to. His hair wasn’t slicked back in the usual manner and there was a cardigan instead of his suits but she couldn’t mistake him for anyone else in the world.

“Right then. I’m Rebecca.” Her arms dropped back to her sides, smoothing out her dress. She lifted her brow in a slight confusion.

Rich gave her an apprehensive smile, holding out his hand for her to shake. “Nice to meet you, miss.” He came around the counter and leaned against it, folding his arms in on each other and crossing one foot in front of the other.

“You said I could possibly help you with something?”

Her eyes roamed around the store, half-heartedly taking in the selection of books, the other half taking note there didn’t seem to be anyone the store but the pair. Rebecca’s mouth pressed into a small frown as she folded the piece of paper and hid it away in the pocket of her dress.

“All right, Jim,” she spoke a even tone with a stern edge to it. Her arms folding over her chest. “What’s going on? You’ve been gone for weeks now.”

Rich straightened up, raising an eyebrow at her and crossing his arms. Jim? “I’m sorry, miss. I didn’t, er. I didn’t tell you my name. I’m Rich. It’s nice to meet you?” He said, uncertainly, it sounding more like a question than a statement.

msrebeccamoriarty:

It wasn’t suppose to take this long.

It was an arms job and god damn it, those never took long. With no word or no actual contact, Rebecca found herself wandering around the Parisian streets in mostly vain attempts now. Her eyes fell back onto the scrap of paper which an address was scrawled across. She spun on her heels, trying to match up the numbers of the buildings.

The sound of the voice caught her attention and her head whipped around in the direction it came from. She stared at the face for a moment as it registered in her mind.

Jim.

Unsure of how to response properly, Rebecca cleared her throat and took a few steps closer to the doorway he stood in. Was he in trouble? Was this apart of some little planned he hatched while he was gone? “Yes. Some help would be lovely, if it wouldn’t trouble you.”

Rich smile grew larger. “Of course it wouldn’t.” She seemed a bit apprehensive, but he stepped aside, giving her space to enter the store. He walked past her as she looked around at the extensive collection of books he had and stepped behind the counter.

“So. Are y’ lost? I wouldn’t want a pretty thing like you wandering aimlessly. What can I help you with?”

Rich & Becca

The store was slow today, but Rich was the only one in. Unfortunately he had to stay the whole entire day. Bored, he’d picked up a book off of the shelves that he hadn’t read yet. It was a short work of fiction and he was leaning on the counter, flipping through the pages. He was only skimming, not actually interested in the plot of the story. His feet started to ache, and he shifted his feet to find a more comfortable position, glancing up as he did so. His eyes scanned the store, taking a light inventory of the stacks of books. Rich’s glance landed on the window to the street and someone caught his eye. A woman wearing a flowered sundress and red heels was spinning around on the sidewalk, obviously searching.

She was beautiful; that much was obvious. Rich couldn’t let her leave his sight without first saying hello. He quickly shut the book and jumped over the counter and to the door. He poked his head out.

“Excuse me, miss?” She turned to him, her curls falling around her shoulders. Rich smiled at her, smoothing the front of his buttoned up cardigan. “You seem a little lost. Could I maybe help?”

Snuggly Cafe Poetry || Teddy & Rich

teddywasabear:

The tint to Rich’s face made him grin, he was all too cute. Taking a sip of his own drink, he slipped into the chair next to the flustered man, patiently waiting for an answer.

“If that’s all you wanted, you could have come talked to me. I, ah,” he chuckles, turning a bit pink himself. “I’m not good at starting things, honestly.”

He shrugged, smiling shyly at him. “I’m not good at it either.” He chuckled at himself. “Obviously.” Rich took another sip of his tea and reached for his book again. Holding it up, he raised his eyebrows at Teddy.

“I was gonna keep reading, if you wanted to join me?” he asked hopefully.
